Bersatu will contest the highest number of seats among Perikatan Nasional (PN) component parties in the upcoming Johor state election on July 11, according to PN election director Sanusi Nor.
Speaking to reporters after a PN seat allocation meeting held at the PAS headquarters, Sanusi said the distribution of seats was finalised based on each party’s perceived strength and electoral confidence.
He said factors such as party machinery, voter support and previous contesting experience were taken into consideration during the allocation process. However, he did not disclose the total number of seats PN will be contesting.
Sanusi confirmed that all 34 overlapping seat claims among PN component parties had been resolved, while seats without overlap were left for individual parties to decide internally.
He added that Pejuang will contest only one seat, namely Bukit Gambir, while Parti Wawasan Negara did not submit any application to contest in Johor.
According to him, all PN candidates will contest under the Perikatan Nasional logo in the state election.
Sanusi, who is also PAS election director, said the party would announce its list of candidates in Muar tomorrow, ahead of the official campaign period.
