Bukit Aman successfully disrupted a drug trafficking syndicate that had been operating since July, seizing over 204 kilograms of methamphetamine worth an estimated RM6.5 million at a premise in Kampung Kasar, Pasir Mas, on August 25.
The raid, conducted in collaboration with the Kelantan Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) between 7 pm and 10 pm, also led to the arrest of a 20-something local convenience store owner believed to be a “transporter” for the syndicate.
Bukit Aman JSJN director, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, said the operation followed nearly a month of intelligence gathering and public tips, noting the syndicate’s activities were highly sophisticated.
“During the raid, police also discovered seven sacks containing 196 plastic packages labeled ‘Jin Xian Tea’ and ‘Number One,’ filled with methamphetamine,” he said. “The total seized drug weight is 204.34 kg, valued at more than RM6.5 million. This amount could potentially harm 1.02 million users if circulated.”
Investigations revealed the syndicate sourced drugs from Thailand via an illegal base in Rantau Panjang. The shipment was unloaded and temporarily hidden in nearby bushes before being picked up by other syndicate members, a tactic designed to evade authorities.
The arrested suspect has five prior criminal records and tested positive for methamphetamine. Police are also in the process of seizing his convenience store to determine whether it was used to conceal the drug operations. Authorities are continuing investigations into remaining syndicate members, including possible international links.
The raid also resulted in the seizure of two vehicles and RM708 in bank accounts. The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Datuk Hussein emphasized, “JSJN remains committed to combating drugs to protect current and future generations.”
