Police Raid Illegal Gang Anniversary Party, 19 Arrested In Night Operation

Police disrupted a gathering believed to be an illegal organisation’s anniversary celebration, detaining 19 individuals during an operation at a food premises along Jalan Masjid here last night.

The raid was carried out under Op Cantas Bersepadu (Gangsterism), after the location was identified as a regular meeting point for members of the banned group known as Kumpulan Kappa Rho Kappa or Knight’s Of The Right Keeper’s (KRKK), which is reportedly commemorated every 24 June annually.

Authorities confirmed that KRKK had been declared an illegal organisation by the Home Ministry on 16 December 2015.

Keningau District Police Chief Superintendent Yampil Anak Garai said those detained included five teenagers suspected of being members of the group, along with 14 adult males, bringing the total arrests to 19.

He said the suspects were being investigated under Section 43 of the Societies Act 1966, while several others were also being probed under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for failing to produce valid identification documents.

Police checks revealed that five of the individuals bore tattoos believed to signify membership in the KRKK group.

Two others were found in possession of KRK membership cards, while only four suspects had valid identification documents, including MyKad, MyPR, MyKAS and passports.

Yampil added that the remaining 15 individuals had no identification documents and admitted they had gathered to mark the group’s anniversary celebration.

Police also seized 15 mobile phones to assist in further investigations as authorities continue efforts to dismantle illegal group activities in the district.
