Elderly Man Pleads Not Guilty To Allegedly Sexually Assaulting Two Girls Inside Mosque Storeroom

Date:

A 73-year-old man has pleaded not guilty at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court to two charges of physically sexually assaulting two young girls inside a mosque storeroom in Semabok earlier this month.

The accused, Aziz Mohammad @ Teh Eng Guan, entered the plea before Judge Raja Noor Adilla Raja Mahyaldin after both charges were read out in court.

According to the charges, he allegedly committed physical sexual assault against two girls, aged eight and 10, in the storeroom of a mosque in Semabok at about 1.05pm on June 15 and June 22 respectively.

The offences were brought under provisions relating to physical sexual assault against children.

During proceedings, Deputy Public Prosecutor Rif’ah ‘Izzati Abdul Mutalif requested bail of RM25,000 for both charges and asked the court to impose additional conditions prohibiting the accused from contacting the victims or prosecution witnesses. The prosecution also sought a requirement for the accused to report to a police station once a month.

Defence counsel Amritpal Singh appealed for lower bail, telling the court that his client is responsible for supporting three children, including one with autism.

The court granted bail of RM10,000 with one surety and imposed conditions barring the accused from interfering with the victims or witnesses. He was also ordered to report to the nearest police station once every month.

The case has been fixed for mention on July 29 for the submission of case documents.
