About 200 boarding schools in Malaysia will soon be equipped with CCTV cameras, with a total cost of RM3 million, as part of efforts to boost student safety.
Director-General of Education, Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad, said the initiative is a proactive step to improve security in schools following past incidents in hostels. The schools were selected based on factors such as student numbers, and CCTV installation will proceed after expert advice on suitable locations.
Dr Mohd Azam stressed that placement must comply with regulations, as boarding areas involve student privacy, and expert guidance is required before installation.
