16-Year-Old Allegedly Stabs Mother To Death After Waking From Nightmare

Date:

A 16-year-old girl has been arrested after allegedly fatally stabbing her mother in Türkiye, claiming she carried out the attack after waking from a nightmare in which she believed she was being strangled.

According to local media reports, the incident occurred on Monday night in Saimbeyli, where the teenager allegedly attacked her mother, Servet Tekir, while she was asleep in the family’s living room.

Police said the teenager called emergency services shortly after the incident and reportedly confessed to the attack.

Officers and paramedics arrived at the home to find the girl waiting outside, where she allegedly surrendered immediately.

Authorities said she told officers, “I killed my mother.”

Inside the house, emergency responders found Servet Tekir lying unresponsive. Despite attempts to save her, paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

Her body was later taken to the Adana Forensic Medicine Institute for a post-mortem examination.

During questioning, the teenager reportedly told investigators she had dreamt that her mother was trying to strangle her.

She allegedly claimed she woke up while still under the influence of the nightmare before carrying out the fatal attack.

Police also said a younger child, who had been sleeping in the same room, told investigators that they did not hear any argument or disturbance before emergency services arrived.

The teenage suspect has been remanded in custody while authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police have not released further details as investigations remain ongoing.
