12 Arrested Over Cheras Shopping Mall Parking Lot Brawl

Police have arrested 12 local individuals to assist investigations into a riot and fight incident that broke out at a shopping mall parking area in Cheras.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said all suspects were detained in three separate raids carried out around the capital on June 29.

Preliminary investigations found that the incident stemmed from dissatisfaction after a worker at the location allegedly reprimanded a group of individuals for obstructing a roadway, which escalated into a heated argument.

He said the verbal exchange quickly turned into a physical altercation, resulting in a public disturbance at the parking area.

Arrests were made following a police report lodged by one of the individuals involved, who sustained minor injuries during the incident.

All suspects, aged in their 20s and 30s, were remanded until Tuesday to assist investigations before being released on police bail.

The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting in a public place.
