Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has decided to keep the benchmark interest rate steady, pointing to ongoing expansion in global growth driven by strong consumer spending and front-loaded activities.
Following its fifth Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting of the year today, the central bank announced that the Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) will remain unchanged at 2.75 per cent.
In a statement, BNM said the outlook for global growth continues to be supported by healthy labour market conditions, less restrictive monetary policies, and fiscal stimulus measures.
