Four Men Face Death Penalty Over 503g Meth Trafficking Charge

Four friends have been charged at the Seri Manjung Magistrate’s Court on Thursday over an allegation of drug trafficking involving more than 500 grammes of methamphetamine last month.

The accused, Tugimin Mistat, 54, Zulkifli Abdul Halim, 40, Mohd Ashiq Mohd Saed, 40, and Fitri Hafifi Mohd Hassan, 35, nodded in understanding after the charge was read before Magistrate Asma’ Nahdiyya Che Ab Rahim.

However, no plea was recorded as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

According to the charge, the four men are accused of jointly trafficking dangerous drugs, specifically methamphetamine weighing approximately 503.20 grammes, at a house in Phase 2D, Seri Manjung, Manjung district, at about 3.30pm on June 26, 2026.

The charge was framed under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment, and whipping of up to 12 strokes if the death penalty is not imposed upon conviction.

Prosecution was conducted by Inspector Zainarida Emilia Zaidi, while none of the accused were represented by legal counsel during the proceedings.

The court has fixed September 30 for mention of the case pending the chemist report.
