Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has reminded voters not to be misled once again by promises and claims that he described as confusing ahead of the Johor State Election.
The Machap assemblyman said the public, especially young voters, should take lessons from previous elections where various pledges were made but were allegedly not fulfilled as expected.
He said voters must be more cautious in making decisions, as various tactics are being used by certain parties to win support.
He claimed that during the previous election, opposing candidates had made promises such as abolishing the Simpang Renggam toll and reducing fuel prices, but questioned whether these commitments had been delivered.
He also alleged that some candidates were now shifting focus to different constituencies and raising local issues such as damaged roads, which he said fall under federal jurisdiction.
According to him, such narratives show a lack of substance, and he urged voters not to be easily influenced by political rhetoric.
Onn Hafiz made the remarks while speaking at a community and Barisan Nasional (BN) machinery programme at Dataran Flat Cengal, Taman Putri.
He added that many young voters returned to their hometowns during the previous general election with hopes for change, and said these experiences should serve as a lesson moving forward.
He also called on parents and party machinery to engage younger voters so they are not easily swayed by political promises.
In a separate remark, he criticised claims by a Pakatan Harapan candidate for Bukit Batu, Arthur Chiong Sen Sern, alleging that the state government did not provide allocations to assemblymen, describing the accusation as baseless.
He said such statements were misleading and aimed at confusing the public for political gain.
Onn Hafiz also urged voters to support BN candidates in Bukit Permai, Bukit Batu and Senai, saying it would ensure continuity of development plans and ongoing welfare initiatives in the state.
