Chaos broke out at the PKNS Complex in Section 14, Shah Alam after a fire broke out in an air-conditioning room on the first floor, sending thick smoke throughout the premises this afternoon.
The incident quickly went viral on social media, with video footage showing shoppers and traders being ordered to evacuate the building following the fire.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Assistant Director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received an emergency call at 2.49pm.
He said 11 firefighters from the Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Station were deployed and arrived at the scene within four minutes.
According to him, the fire involved an air-conditioning room on the first floor, with estimated damage of about 70 per cent.
Firefighters are currently carrying out overhaul and ventilation work to clear the smoke from the building.
He confirmed that no casualties were reported in the incident.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
