Popular Malaysia Airlines cabin crew member and social media personality Hafeez Al Bukhary Zulkefly has passed away after battling stage four colon cancer.
News of Hafeez’s passing was shared by his cousin, Hani Mishan, in a post on Threads on Thursday. She said she had received the heartbreaking news from Hafeez’s sister and offered prayers for his soul.
“Assalamualaikum. I have just received the sad news from Hafeez’s sister that Hafeez Al Bukhary Zulkefly has returned to his Creator. May Allah forgive his sins, grant him peace in his grave, and bless him with the highest place in Paradise. Ameen,” she wrote.
Earlier, Hafeez had been reported to be in critical condition after his health deteriorated following a prolonged battle with colon cancer. He was taken back to his hometown in Perak, where he spent his final days surrounded by his loved ones.
In August last year, Hafeez publicly revealed through an Instagram post that he had been diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. At the time, he said he accepted the diagnosis with faith and believed every hardship carried wisdom and purpose.
Hafeez rose to prominence on social media through videos documenting his life as a cabin crew member with Malaysia Airlines. His content, which included interactions with passengers and heartfelt moments while assisting Hajj pilgrims, earned him a loyal following and widespread admiration.
Known for his warm personality and ever-present smile while on duty, Hafeez became one of the airline’s most recognisable online figures. His positive outlook and dedication to serving passengers continued to inspire many, even as he faced his illness with remarkable courage and resilience.
Tributes have since poured in from followers and members of the public, who remembered Hafeez not only for his professionalism but also for the kindness and compassion he consistently showed throughout his career.
