Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has expressed confidence that Barisan Nasional (BN) is capable of regaining control of Johor in the upcoming state election.
The Bera MP also predicted that BN could increase its number of seats compared to the 40 won in the 2022 Johor state election, citing shifts in voter sentiment.
He said growing public awareness of political performance is among the key factors influencing voter decisions in the upcoming polls.
Ismail Sabri noted that in the past, voters found it difficult to assess competing political promises, but now have a clearer view of which parties have delivered on their commitments.
He added that younger voters are also becoming more discerning, and are likely to support parties they view as more trustworthy and capable of governing effectively.
He made the remarks after attending a visit and aid presentation programme organised by the Yayasan Keluarga Malaysia in the area.
During the event, the foundation provided educational assistance and support for the children of a recipient who lost her husband due to COVID-19.
Ismail Sabri said around 1,000 orphaned children have so far benefited from assistance provided by the foundation nationwide.
