A 64-year-old man has died after falling into a hole more than three meters deep along a pathway frequently used by locals in Phayao province, Thailand.
According to The Thaiger, the tragic incident has sparked calls from residents urging authorities to inspect the area and implement safety measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.
The accident occurred at 12:37 p.m. local time on Sunday, when police received a report that a man had fallen into a hole near a farm road leading to Baan San Luang.
Rescue teams, disaster prevention officers from Krai Thong, and a forensic doctor were immediately dispatched to the scene.
The hole, estimated to be about 3.5 meters deep, was large enough to trap the victim, identified as Sawat, whose body was later found at the bottom.
With assistance from family members, rescue workers successfully retrieved the body.
Initial examinations by forensic doctors and police confirmed that the death was not linked to any foul play.
