Residents of Mojokerto, East Java, Indonesia, were left in shock after human body parts, gruesomely dismembered into 65 pieces, were discovered in a thicket in Dusun Pacet Selatan, Pacet Village, last Saturday.
Authorities have confirmed the victim’s identity as TAS, a 25-year-old from Lamongan who had been living in Surabaya after completing a bachelor’s degree at Universitas Trunojoyo Madura (UTM).
According to Mojokerto Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief, AKP Fauzy Pratama, the victim had reportedly been living with a boyfriend, who is also a student at the same university.
“Information is limited as the victim rarely communicated with her family. However, they hope the perpetrator will be caught soon. The identity of her boyfriend is still under investigation,” Fauzy explained.
The remains were first discovered by a local villager who had been out gathering grass. Police revealed that 63 of the pieces consisted of muscle tissue, fat, scalp, and hair, each roughly measuring 17 by 17 centimeters.
“The other two parts were the left sole of the foot and the right wrist,” authorities confirmed.
Investigations are ongoing as police work to trace the suspect behind the brutal killing.
