11 Houses Destroyed In Inanam Night Blaze, One Badly Damaged

Date:

A late-night fire in Kampung Kalansanan, Inanam, has destroyed 11 houses completely, while another was left 50 per cent damaged in an incident that broke out on Friday night.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) officials confirmed that no injuries or fatalities were reported in the blaze, which affected a total of 12 non-permanent homes in the area.

According to Lintas Fire and Rescue Station chief, Noor Sherriyana Bohari, emergency services received a distress call at around 9.20pm before teams were immediately deployed to the scene.

Firefighters arrived about 10 minutes later and found multiple wooden structures already engulfed in flames across an estimated area of 277.34 square metres.

A large-scale operation was launched involving three hose lines stretching 300 feet with six nozzles, supported by water tankers and a nearby river as an additional water source.

Authorities said 11 houses were completely destroyed in the fire, while one other suffered significant damage but was partially saved through containment efforts.

A total of 37 firefighters from several stations, including Lintas, Kota Kinabalu and Penampang, were involved in the operation, which brought the fire under control at 10.48pm before being fully extinguished at 1.27am.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire and the extent of the overall losses.
