Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has stressed that his position as Prime Minister will not be affected by any outcome of the Johor state election.
He said the election should not be turned into a platform for hostility, and urged all parties to exercise caution and responsibility in their statements.
Anwar, who is also Pakatan Harapan chairman, said his presence in Johor was not to provoke political conflict but to continue delivering development and policies for the people through the federal government.
He said whether PH wins or loses in Johor, his position as Prime Minister remains unchanged, and reminded political opponents to be mindful in their remarks.
Speaking at the Kita Geng Madani Anak Muda programme in Bukit Batu, Anwar said federal allocations had already been channelled to support Johor’s development and should not be politicised.
He added that Johor should prioritise affordable housing and low-cost housing development, similar to initiatives implemented in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Perak.
Anwar also highlighted major infrastructure projects in the state, including the RTS Link and the upcoming Automated Rapid Transit (ART) system in Johor Bahru, describing them as multi-billion-ringgit developments funded by the federal government.
He said the focus of the government is on people-centric development, including small traders and housing projects, rather than only large-scale infrastructure.
In a light-hearted remark, Anwar said Johor appeared eager for an early state election, adding that a rushed contest would not guarantee victory for any side.
The Prime Minister also reiterated that the government remains focused on ensuring development reaches the grassroots regardless of political outcomes.
