Two men who were on their way to attend a wedding in the state had their plans cut short after they were detained at a roadblock in Lalang Pepuyu, Tanah Merah, yesterday.
The two individuals, aged 20 and 29, were stopped by personnel from Battalion 9 of the General Operations Force (PGA) under Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan at about 10.30pm after their vehicle was found in a suspicious condition.
Brigade Southeast PGA commander Senior Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Radzi Hussain said a search of the Perodua Aruz they were travelling in led to the discovery of a black bag and a green bottle containing a greenish liquid suspected to be ketum water.
He said the seized substance was estimated to be about one litre, with a value of around RM30.
“Further inspection also found suspected ketum liquid inside the vehicle,” he said in a statement.
He added that initial investigations revealed the duo claimed they were travelling to Kelantan to attend a wedding ceremony.
They also said the vehicle used was borrowed from the elder brother of the 29-year-old suspect.
