A 34-year-old unemployed man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl he had known for only three days in an incident at a plantation in Gemas early Sunday morning.
Tampin District Police Chief Superintendent Amiruddien Sariman said the suspect allegedly picked up the teenage victim from her home in Gemas on a motorcycle before taking her to a plantation, where he is accused of raping her in a hut.
Police received a report on the incident at about 1.46pm on Sunday.
“The teenager is no longer attending school. The suspect picked her up from her house in Gemas in the early hours of the morning on a motorcycle before taking her to a plantation, where he allegedly raped her in a hut.
“The unemployed suspect had only known the victim for three days. They became acquainted while spending time together,” Amiruddien told reporters.
Following the report, a team from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Tampin District Police Headquarters arrested the suspect at about 8.45pm, less than 12 hours after the report was lodged.
Amiruddien said police had obtained a seven-day remand order to facilitate further investigations into the case.
