Police seized 208 rounds of live ammunition, several gun-like objects and suspected drugs during two raids linked to drug trafficking activities in Sitiawan, Manjung, last Wednesday.
Perak Police Chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said the operation, carried out by the Perak Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID), also led to the seizure of suspected methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) and ketamine worth an estimated RM6,547, while a 29-year-old local man was arrested.
The first raid took place in Taman Terus Maju, Sitiawan, where police intercepted a Proton Wira driven by the suspect.
A search of the vehicle uncovered three red plastic packets containing 66.64 grams of suspected MDMA, he said during a press conference at the Perak Police Contingent Headquarters.
Following the arrest, police raided a house in Jalan Kampung Cina, Sitiawan, where they discovered 12 transparent plastic packets containing 64.30 grams of suspected ketamine.
Further inspection of a wooden shed behind the house led to the discovery of one object resembling a pistol, seven gun barrels resembling rifles, two crossbow-like barrels, 208 rounds of live ammunition and eight spent bullet casings.
Mohd Alwi said preliminary investigations found that the suspect had allegedly been involved in drug distribution for the past four months, selling the drugs directly to users.
Police estimated the seized drugs could have supplied around 100 drug users.
A preliminary urine screening also found the suspect tested positive for ketamine, although police confirmed he has no previous criminal record.
Authorities also seized RM720 in cash under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988, bringing the total value of the confiscated items and assets to RM7,267.
The suspect was remanded for six days, from July 2 until today, to assist with investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 8A of the Firearms Act 1960.
