Date:

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for greater efforts to strengthen nationhood values, saying they are essential in shaping Malaysians with strong character, integrity and a deep sense of patriotism.

In a Facebook post on Monday night, Anwar said he raised the matter during the Dewan Kenegaraan Board of Governance Meeting, stressing that nurturing national values is crucial to ensuring the spirit of love for the country continues to thrive among the people.

He said cultivating these values would help build a society rooted in unity, responsibility and noble principles, while enhancing Malaysia’s standing on the global stage. According to the Prime Minister, nation-building requires continuous commitment to developing citizens with a strong national identity.

Anwar also received an update on the progress of the National Service Training Programme (PLKN), describing its development as encouraging. He said the programme has been well received by both participants and parents, reflecting growing confidence in its role in shaping young Malaysians.

He stressed that PLKN should continue to be strengthened as an important platform to instil discipline, resilience and a stronger sense of identity among future generations.

The meeting also highlighted the contribution of the Nationhood Fellows, an initiative that brings together distinguished leaders and statesmen from diverse backgrounds to share ideas and support Malaysia’s nation-building agenda. According to Anwar, the collaboration plays an important role in reinforcing efforts to build a more united and resilient nation.
