26 Hotspots On Police Radar Ahead Of Negeri Sembilan State Polls

Date:

Police have identified 26 hotspot areas and 15 flashpoint locations in Negeri Sembilan that could potentially experience unwanted incidents during the upcoming state election.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the locations were identified based on assessments and past experience in managing previous elections.

However, he said the list remains dynamic and may change depending on the current situation and the final list of candidates contesting in the election.

“We will wait for the nomination process on July 18. Once the list of candidates is confirmed, we will conduct further assessments of each state constituency to prepare a more detailed security plan,” he said during a press conference at the Negeri Sembilan Police Contingent Headquarters on Thursday.

Alzafny said 11 hotspot locations were identified in Seremban, followed by five each in Jempol and Tampin, three in Nilai and two in Rembau.

He added that police are currently at a high level of readiness for the state election, with preparations covering security measures, traffic control, monitoring of campaign activities, law enforcement and other possible situations throughout the election period.

A total of 4,800 officers and personnel will be deployed to ensure the election process runs smoothly.

“We will also receive assistance from 1,373 officers and personnel from Bukit Aman who will be stationed at polling centres.

“Their deployment will begin from the campaign period until polling day and after the announcement of results, depending on the needs and current situation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Alzafny said 700 officers and personnel have also been sent to assist the Johor police contingent in managing the Johor state election, which will take place this Saturday.

The Election Commission (EC) has set July 18 for the nomination of candidates for the Negeri Sembilan state election, while polling day is scheduled for Aug 1.
