PAS Stands Firm On Unity Agenda Amid Johor Election Political Talks

Date:

Pas remains committed to promoting unity and strengthening ties, particularly among Muslims, as part of its efforts to uphold religious responsibilities and prevent divisions that could weaken society.

Pas Central Committee member Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the party’s stance was not driven by political interests but was based on the belief that unity is a responsibility commanded by Allah SWT.

He said Pas would continue to be transparent in its decisions, including matters involving negotiations and support for other parties, regardless of public perception.

“Pas may be criticised, our support may not be appreciated, and we may be viewed negatively by those who take pride in holding power.

“However, Pas chooses to remain honest and open. If we negotiate, we say we negotiate. If we support, we say we support. We do not show one thing in front and another behind,” he said in a social media post on Friday.

Annuar added that Pas also represented the concerns of Malaysians who are increasingly rejecting arrogance, excessive pride, abuse of power, corruption and misconduct.

He claimed that the party was fighting for issues that matter to the people, adding that such sentiments were becoming more noticeable among young voters in Johor.

“We can feel the pulse of Johor’s people, especially the younger generation. They may remain quiet and do not speak much.

“But do not mistake silence for acceptance. Their rejection of wrongdoing is growing quietly and could become a major force,” he said.

His remarks came after Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi previously stated that Pas would not become part of the Johor state government if BN returns to power and if he is reappointed as chief minister.

Onn Hafiz assured Johoreans that Pas would not be included in the state administration under any circumstances. He also claimed that suggestions of Pas joining the government were merely a political narrative aimed at confusing Chinese voters ahead of polling day.

The BN Johor chairman also denied claims that an agreement had been made to allocate appointed state assembly seats to Pas in exchange for the party contesting only 11 seats in the Johor State Election.

Earlier, Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said Perikatan Nasional (PN), particularly Pas, was prepared to cooperate and contribute seats to Umno if the party failed to secure a simple majority to form the state government.

The Johor State Election 2026 involves 56 state seats, with a minimum of 29 seats required for any party or coalition to form the state government.
