Bellingham’s Double Sends England Into World Cup Semi-Finals

Date:

Jude Bellingham produced a match-winning performance as England defeated Norway 2-1 after extra time to book their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-finals in a thrilling encounter at Miami Stadium.

The quarter-final clash ended 1-1 after 90 minutes before Bellingham struck again in extra time to seal victory for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Norway broke the deadlock in the 36th minute when Andreas Schjelderup found the back of the net with a well-placed finish after being set up by captain Martin Odegaard.

England responded just before half-time through Bellingham, whose equaliser restored hope for the Three Lions heading into the second half.

The Real Madrid midfielder completed his brace three minutes into extra time after reacting quickest to a rebound when Norway goalkeeper Orjan Nyland failed to hold onto a powerful long-range effort from substitute Morgan Rogers.

England nearly extended their lead in the 98th minute after Djed Spence went down inside the penalty area, but referee Clement Turpin waved play on after consulting the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Norway pushed hard for a late equaliser during the remainder of extra time, but England’s defence stood firm to protect their advantage and secure a place in the last four.

The victory keeps England’s hopes of lifting a second World Cup title alive, with the Three Lions set to face the winners of the quarter-final between Argentina and Switzerland in the semi-finals.
