Trader Fined RM7,000 For Displaying Tobacco Products At Non-Specialty Shop

A trader has been fined RM7,000 by the Sessions Court for displaying tobacco products at a retail outlet that was not licensed as a specialty tobacco shop.

Sessions Court Judge Mohd Zul Zakiqudin Zulkifli imposed the fine after Muhammad Harfaizul Ismail pleaded guilty when the charge was read before the court.

According to the charge, Muhammad Harfaizul was found displaying tobacco products at Kedai Kotak Kampung Getang in Kuala Telemong at about 12.30pm on October 3, 2025.

He was charged under Section 10(1) of the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act, which carries a maximum penalty of RM20,000, imprisonment of up to one year, or both upon conviction.

The prosecution was handled by Health Prosecuting Officer Alias Awang Kechik, while the accused was unrepresented.
