Flood Victims Receive July Water Bill Exemption Under Melaka Aid Programme

Date:

A total of 327 families affected by floods in Melaka last Saturday will receive an exemption on their water bills for July 2026 under the Melaka Sayang Rakyat Special Assistance Free Water Bill initiative.

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the assistance, worth about RM50,000, was provided as a form of concern from the state government towards families facing difficulties following the flood disaster.

He said the state administration understood the challenges experienced by residents whose homes and daily lives were affected by the floods in several areas.

“Therefore, I have announced the Melaka Sayang Rakyat Special Assistance Free Water Bill, which provides an exemption on water charges for July 2026 for flood victims.

“This assistance worth approximately RM50,000 will benefit 327 affected families,” he said after the 15th Melaka State Legislative Assembly sitting at Seri Negeri on Wednesday.

Ab Rauf also instructed the implementation of the aid to be simplified so that recipients would not face unnecessary bureaucratic procedures when applying for the assistance.

The move comes after several areas in Melaka, including Masjid Tanah, Bukit Rambai and Parit Lampung, Tehel, were affected by flooding last Saturday.
