Police have detained three Form One male students from a secondary school here after they were suspected of bullying a schoolmate and causing injuries during an incident last Thursday.
Kangar District Police Chief ACP Yusharifuddin Mohd Yusop said police received a report at 11.27pm on Thursday regarding the incident, with the victim suffering an injury to his ankle.
He said the victim’s 39-year-old mother was informed by her son’s class teacher at about 12.28pm that the teenager had slipped while entering the classroom and was unable to walk.
The mother then took her son to Tuanku Fauziah Hospital at around 1pm for treatment, where doctors confirmed that the student had suffered a fracture to his left ankle.
Yusharifuddin said the victim later revealed while receiving treatment at the hospital that he had allegedly been bullied by the suspects for several months, with the situation escalating on Thursday and resulting in his injury.
According to him, the three students were believed to have kicked and assaulted the victim, thrown two large rubbish bins at his body and head, spat at him, and allegedly demanded money from him.
The police chief said the three suspects have been remanded for two days from today to assist investigations under Section 324 and Section 507B of the Penal Code.
Authorities are continuing investigations into the case to determine the full circumstances surrounding the alleged bullying incident.
