UPSI Graduate Murder Case Update: Court Set for October 28 Mention

Date:

The prosecution today submitted additional documents to the defense team representing the police officer charged with the murder of Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) graduate, Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah, last year.

Aida Jaafar Mad Ariff, the lawyer representing Lance Corporal Muhammad Alif Morjani, 27, said the additional documents included police reports and evidence recovered from the crime scene.

“The case documents include all items found at the scene, such as mobile phones, keys, and dashcam footage. Everything is complete, and once both parties agree, we will inform the court whether to file a representation on October 28,” she said after proceedings at the Shah Alam Court Complex today.

The documents were submitted before Deputy Registrar of the High Court, Nadia Othman. Muhammad Alif is represented by lawyers Aida and Nur Aida Md Zainuddin, while the prosecution is led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Maizatul Munirah Abdul Rahman. The court has scheduled the next case mention for October 28.

Muhammad Alif had previously pleaded not guilty on June 12 to the charge of murdering 25-year-old Nur Farah Kartini, whose body was discovered in a palm oil plantation at Ladang SKC Kledang, Hulu Bernam, Hulu Selangor.

He is accused of causing her death between 9 a.m. on July 10 and 6 p.m. on July 15, 2024. If convicted under Section 302 of the Penal Code, he could face the death penalty or life imprisonment of 30 to 40 years, along with at least 12 strokes of the cane.

Nur Farah Kartini was reported missing on July 10, 2024, after delivering a rental car to a customer. Her body was later found around 6 p.m. in a palm oil plantation in Kampung Sri Kledang, Hulu Selangor.

The discovery led to the arrest of the police officer, who was serving in Perak, to assist in the investigation.
