A 15-year-old boy has been charged with raping and sexually assaulting eight girls aged between 10 and 15.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of committing the offences between 2023 and 2025. He faces a total of 22 charges.
He appeared at Wellingborough Youth Court on Tuesday alongside his mother. The case was deemed too serious for the youth court and has been sent to Northampton Crown Court for trial.
District Judge Amar Mehta told the boy: “Your case is too serious to be tried in this court. Therefore it’s going to be tried at the Crown Court at Northampton.”
The charges include:
- One count of raping a girl under 13
- One count of raping a girl aged 13–15
- 12 counts of sexual assault on a female
- Three counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching
- One count of assaulting a female aged 13 and over by penetration
- Two counts of making an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a child
- One count of possessing a prohibited image of a child
- One count of possessing extreme pornographic images
The boy was not required to enter a plea during the 20-minute hearing. He only spoke to confirm his name, date of birth, and address, and to ask about the Youth Justice Service.
He has been granted conditional bail and must not contact the alleged victims. He is also prohibited from having unsupervised contact with any females under the age of 16 and must engage with the Northamptonshire Youth Justice Service.
He is next due to appear at Northampton Crown Court on 18 August.
