Tree Branch Crashes Into Car, Two Men Escape Unhurt

Date:

Two men had a narrow escape after a tree branch fell onto their vehicle along Jalan Coastal near Centre Point, Kota Kinabalu, in the early hours of Tuesday.

The incident occurred at about 12.30am when the branch broke off from a tree and landed on the vehicle, with part of it piercing through the front windscreen and reaching the dashboard near the driver’s seat.

Despite the impact, both victims, aged 23 and 27, escaped without injuries.

Kota Kinabalu Civil Defence Force (APM) officer Major (PA) Aizex Junior Simon said his team received an emergency call regarding the incident at around 12.45am.

He said six APM personnel, including an officer, were deployed to the scene along with a light rescue vehicle (LRV) and an ambulance.

“Upon arrival, we found a fallen tree with a branch crushing a vehicle. The branch had penetrated the front windscreen and reached the dashboard, but both men inside the vehicle were unharmed,” he said.

Aizex said APM personnel took about 30 minutes to cut and remove the fallen tree that was blocking the road and damaging the vehicle.

The operation ended after the area was confirmed safe, allowing traffic along Jalan Coastal near Centre Point to resume as normal.
