Police Monitor Campaign Activities As PRN Negeri Sembilan Nears

Date:

A total of 173 out of 178 applications to hold talks and political campaign activities for the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election have been approved between July 18 and yesterday.

Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said all approved programmes and campaign activities are being monitored closely by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to ensure they comply with regulations and do not affect public safety.

He said police received nine reports throughout the same period, with five investigation papers opened.

One of the investigation papers opened yesterday involves an alleged election offence.

“One investigation paper is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for committing mischief by fire, resulting in damage or loss to property,” he said in a statement.

Alzafny said the overall security situation and public order during the election period remains stable and under control.

He also urged members of the public to continue respecting the law, supporting the democratic process and cooperating with police personnel to ensure the Negeri Sembilan state election runs smoothly, peacefully and in an orderly manner.

Early voting for the election is scheduled for July 28, while polling day will take place on Aug 1.
