Aminuddin Warns Parties Against Exploiting Racial Issues In Negeri Sembilan Polls

Date:

Political parties contesting the Negeri Sembilan state election have been reminded not to use sensitive issues that could affect racial harmony in the state.

Caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the peaceful relationship among the state’s multi-ethnic communities must be protected and should not be used as a political tool.

He said Negeri Sembilan has a long history of maintaining good relations between communities, and unnecessary issues that could create divisions should be avoided.

“People from different backgrounds have lived together peacefully. I do not see any reason for racial issues to be exploited to create division or to benefit any political party,” he said during a campaign event in Linggi.

Aminuddin, who is also Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) candidate for the Linggi state seat, said he believes voters are capable of evaluating the coalition’s performance after eight years of leading the state government.

He said PH’s manifesto for the state election reflects the coalition’s commitment towards fulfilling promises and improving the well-being of Negeri Sembilan residents.

Aminuddin added that the state had maintained a close relationship with the federal government over the past eight years, despite several changes in the country’s political landscape.

He said PH continued carrying out its responsibilities even when it was no longer part of the federal administration following the Sheraton Move.

“Alhamdulillah, since PH returned to lead the federal government in 2023, this cooperation has allowed Negeri Sembilan to continue moving forward,” he said.
