An 81-year-old woman was injured after being kicked to the ground by a masked robber during a violent home invasion at her house in Lenggong, Perak, early Tuesday morning.
The elderly woman, who lives alone, was asleep when she was awakened at around 5.10am by the sound of her dogs barking and loud banging on the front gate.
She walked into the living room to investigate, only to find a masked man standing at the entrance of her home.
According to her police report, the suspect immediately grabbed her clothing before kicking her to the ground, causing injuries to her back.
Despite the pain, the woman screamed for help. Moments later, another masked suspect ran out from inside the house, and both men fled the scene in a black car that was waiting outside with a getaway driver.
The victim told police she was still in shock after the ordeal and was unable to immediately determine how much money or valuables had been stolen from her home.
Later that evening, the victim’s grandson appealed on social media for members of the public to help identify the suspects and provide information to the police.
He said the robbers kicked his 81-year-old grandmother twice during the break-in, leaving her injured and deeply traumatised.
According to him, CCTV footage captured a black Mazda believed to be linked to the robbery. The vehicle was carrying the registration number VMG 9433.
He urged anyone who saw the vehicle in the Lenggong area before or after the incident, or who may have captured it on CCTV or dashcam footage, to contact the police immediately.
The grandson also reminded the public, especially elderly people living alone, to remain vigilant by ensuring doors and windows are locked and by reporting any suspicious individuals or vehicles.
Police have confirmed receiving the report and are investigating the case.
