Police Probe Viral Sexual Harassment Allegation At Sabah Hospital

Date:

Police have confirmed receiving a report over a viral sexual harassment allegation involving a hospital in Sabah, with investigations currently underway.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said the case is being investigated under the relevant provisions of the law relating to sexual harassment.

“Yes, the police have received a report and investigations are ongoing. The case is being investigated under the relevant section for sexual harassment,” he said.

Jauteh was responding to questions from reporters regarding a viral video allegedly linked to a sexual harassment incident at the hospital after attending the Sabah Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) monthly assembly on Thursday.

He declined to comment further on the investigation, citing the ongoing nature of the case.

Meanwhile, the Sabah Ministry of Women, Health and People’s Wellbeing said it would not tolerate any form of sexual harassment and confirmed that follow-up action had been initiated in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Sabah State Health Department (JKNS).

Assistant Minister of Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Datuk Julita Majungki said the ministry views the allegation seriously and maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of sexual harassment.

“Appropriate action has already been initiated. We are aware of the matter and, at the ministry level, we take this issue very seriously and practise a zero-tolerance policy.

“We are also ensuring that the matter is being coordinated with the Ministry of Health,” she said.

When asked about the timeline for further action, Julita said the matter now falls under the jurisdiction of the MOH and JKNS, urging the public to wait for an official announcement.

“I cannot disclose any further details at this stage. However, I can assure everyone that we are not leaving this matter unattended. Several follow-up measures have already begun and are currently being implemented,” she said.
