Sanusi Says ‘Perikatan Barisan Nasional’ Idea Was Just ‘Syok-Syok’

Date:

PAS election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has brushed aside a proposal to use the name “Perikatan Barisan Nasional (PBN)” for cooperation between Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Barisan Nasional (BN) in the upcoming state election, describing it as nothing more than a personal suggestion.

Sanusi said the proposed name has never been discussed by the parties involved and does not form part of any official negotiations.

“I’ve never heard about it. I think he was just suggesting it for fun. It’s only a proposal—there hasn’t been any discussion at that level.

“PN has its own parties, BN has its own parties. So where does PBN come from? There isn’t even a party called PBN. It’s just an idea and doesn’t need to be blown out of proportion.

“It’s not an official policy, nobody has discussed it. It was simply one person’s suggestion,” he told reporters after a PN-BN mega ceramah in Bandar Seri Jempol on Thursday.

Earlier, Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, who is also Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan) president, proposed the use of the name Perikatan Barisan Nasional (PBN) to represent electoral cooperation between PN and BN.

Hamzah said the proposed branding was intended to avoid public confusion over the collaboration between the two political coalitions during the Negeri Sembilan state election campaign.
