Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil has denied claims that the Negeri Sembilan government failed to take action over allegations of state land encroachment involving several villages, including Kampung Pasir.
The Pakatan Harapan (PH) communications director said he had sought clarification from Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, who informed him that follow-up measures had already been taken.
Fahmi said checks found that 12 houses were identified as having encroached on state government land.
“Since the complaint was received, the Menteri Besar’s Office has engaged with the Seremban Land and District Office, which found that 12 houses were involved in state land encroachment.
“Some of the affected households have already been assisted with relocation efforts, while five families have been offered government affordable housing,” he told reporters.
Fahmi, who is also the Lembah Pantai MP, was commenting on a document that went viral on social media regarding a letter dated July 18, 2022, which alleged that several villages in Seremban were involved in state land encroachment.
He said the Seremban Land and District Office had prepared proposals and responses regarding the remaining cases, which were later brought before the State Executive Council meeting.
However, he explained that the decision-making process was delayed following the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly in early June to make way for the state election, causing several administrative matters to be postponed until a new government was formed.
Fahmi said the latest developments showed that the Negeri Sembilan government had not ignored complaints related to land encroachment as alleged by certain parties.
He added that action had also been taken against individuals who attempted to spread false claims or misleading information regarding the issue.
