A woman suffered serious injuries after being thrown from a moving rollercoaster at an amusement park in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
The incident occurred on the evening of July 20, when the woman was riding a small rollercoaster, reportedly falling about 13 feet onto the concrete ground below.
Videos circulating online captured the terrifying moment she was ejected from the ride, as horrified onlookers screamed and rushed to her aid. She was found unconscious before being taken to hospital for emergency treatment.
Preliminary reports from local media suggested the coaster cart she was riding did not have a seatbelt, although authorities have yet to confirm the exact cause of the incident.
Park employees reportedly told investigators the woman may have fainted during the ride, causing her to lose her balance before falling from the carriage.
Following the accident, officials ordered the amusement park to close for 24 hours while authorities investigated whether mechanical failure or safety violations contributed to the incident.
The woman’s current condition has not been officially updated, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The incident comes just weeks after another amusement park accident in the United States, where 15 children and one adult were left stranded about 50 feet above the ground for several hours after a ride malfunctioned at Adventureland on Long Island before firefighters safely rescued them.
