A Russian influencer and self-proclaimed fortune teller suffered serious burns after a power bank reportedly exploded while she was sleeping in her apartment in Moscow.
Anna Otavina, 24, said she was asleep when the portable charger, which had been left on her bed, suddenly caught fire, igniting her hair and bedding.
Recalling the incident, Otavina said the fire started within seconds.
“I left my phone-charging power bank on my bed. I think it overheated because it was in contact with the bed,” she said.
She explained that she had been lying with her back facing the power bank and her hair hanging loose. When she jumped out of bed after noticing the flames, her burning hair fell onto her back, causing severe burns.
Otavina later discovered that her pillow and blanket had already caught fire, while the burning power bank fell onto the floor and ignited the carpet.
She managed to cover the power bank to stop the flames from spreading before extinguishing the other fires. Only afterwards was she able to cool her burns under running water while waiting for emergency responders.
Doctors reportedly diagnosed her with second-degree burns covering around 30 per cent of her back.

Following the ordeal, Otavina warned others against leaving power banks or other electronic devices charging unattended, particularly overnight.
“I unplug everything now and never leave devices charging while I sleep. I don’t think I’ll use power banks anymore,” she said.
Otavina said the power bank had been given to her by a former partner, although she could not recall the brand of the device.
The influencer is known online for offering fortune-telling and spiritual guidance, including energy healing, relationship advice and personal development services to thousands of clients.
