BN-PN Cooperation Only For Negeri Sembilan, Says Wan Rosdy

Date:

The political understanding and cooperation between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) only applies to the Negeri Sembilan state election and does not extend to other states, said UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.

Wan Rosdy said any decision regarding political cooperation in other states would only be made after discussions with the party’s top leadership and would not be decided by any individual alone.

“For now, the cooperation is only in Negeri Sembilan. For other states, we will discuss first and any decision will be made collectively by the party’s top leadership.

“In Negeri Sembilan, the situation requires us to work together. In politics, we must be wise in making decisions and at times, we need to compromise to achieve a bigger goal,” he said.

He said this after officiating the UMNO Hulu Terengganu Division Delegates Meeting at the East Coast Regional Construction Academy (ABM) on Friday.

The Pahang Menteri Besar was responding to speculation on whether the BN-PN cooperation would continue until the next general election.

Wan Rosdy also clarified that the decision to cooperate with PN in the Negeri Sembilan state election was not solely made by UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, but was reached through approval from the party’s Political Bureau.

He said the current political landscape remains dynamic, with different approaches being adopted by parties depending on the situation in each state.

“Politics is constantly changing. What happens today may not necessarily remain the same in five years. We can see that political approaches differ between states, such as Johor and Negeri Sembilan,” he said.

Meanwhile, Wan Rosdy urged BN leaders at all levels not to lose hope following the coalition’s defeat in the previous general election.

He called on party members to continue strengthening grassroots efforts, engage with voters and young people, while rebuilding public confidence towards UMNO and BN.
