Report Lodged Against Sanusi Over Ceramah Remarks Ahead Of State Poll

Date:

Police have received a report against Perikatan Nasional (PN) election director Datuk Seri Mohd Sanusi Md Nor over alleged remarks made during a campaign ceramah ahead of the 16th Negri Sembilan state election.

Negri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the report was lodged by a 40-year-old man at the Bandar Seri Jempol Police Station on Friday (July 24).

He said the complainant raised concerns over a news report published by a portal regarding a ceramah involving the Kedah Menteri Besar.

“The case is being investigated under Section 505 of the Penal Code for statements likely to cause public mischief,” he said in a statement.

Alzafny added that investigations are also being conducted under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act involving the improper use of network facilities or services.

He said police have received 16 reports linked to election offences since nomination day, with 11 investigation papers opened so far.

Separately, Alzafny said police received 69 applications for ceramah and campaign-related activities on Friday, and all applications were approved.

He added that a total of 345 applications have been submitted since nomination day, with 322 receiving approval.

Police will continue strengthening monitoring and enforcement throughout the state election period to ensure all campaign activities comply with regulations.

Alzafny also reminded the public to respect the democratic process and cooperate with authorities to ensure the election is conducted peacefully, safely and in an orderly manner.
