25-Year-Old Pregnant Woman Killed After Alleged Husband Assault Over Salty Food

Date:

A 25-year-old pregnant woman, identified as Brajbala, has tragically died after allegedly being beaten by her husband over food she had cooked being too salty.

The incident occurred in Nagda Dhak village, Kasganj district, Uttar Pradesh, India.

According to police, an argument between Brajbala and her husband, Ramu, escalated violently, causing her to fall from the roof of their home and sustain severe injuries.

She was initially taken to the district hospital before being referred to Aligarh Medical College due to her critical condition, but she was pronounced dead last Thursday.

Additional Kasganj Police Chief Rajesh Bharti confirmed that an investigation has been launched against Ramu. “The investigation is ongoing. The suspect, who fled after the incident, was apprehended by villagers and handed over to the police the same night,” he said.

The victim’s body was sent for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

Brajbala’s family claimed that this was not the first time she had been subjected to abuse by her husband. They alleged that Ramu often acted violently over trivial matters and was reportedly involved in an affair with her sister-in-law.

In their police report, the family also named three other individuals allegedly involved in repeated abuse against Brajbala.

The case has once again drawn attention to the persistent issue of domestic violence in India, which continues to pose serious risks and, in some cases, proves fatal.
