Woman Killed In Crash After Car Allegedly Veers Into Motorcycle’s Path

Date:

A woman was killed after the motorcycle she was riding was involved in a collision with a car along Jalan Merbau Kudung towards Felda Teloi Timur yesterday afternoon.

The accident occurred at around 5pm and involved a white Proton Saga and a black Honda Vario motorcycle ridden by the victim.

Sik district police chief Superintendent Shamzury Saman said preliminary investigations found that the car was travelling from Felda Teloi Timur towards Hospital Sik, while the motorcycle was heading in the opposite direction towards Felda Teloi Timur.

He said the car driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle while approaching a bend, causing the car to drift into the opposite lane before crashing head-on into the motorcycle.

“Following the collision, the motorcyclist was thrown onto the car’s windscreen before falling onto the road.

“The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and her body was later sent to the Forensic Unit of Hospital Sik for further action,” he said in a statement.

Shamzury said initial findings indicated that the accident was caused by the car losing control and entering the opposite lane, resulting in the collision.

Both vehicles involved have since been seized by police for further inspection and investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
