PAS Youth has accused PKR’s Dr N Sathia Prakash of misrepresenting Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor’s remarks by allegedly adding the phrase “go back” in reference to Chinese and Indian communities.
PAS Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden said the party would lodge a police report against Sathia over allegations of sedition and attempts to create racial tension.
He stressed that political differences should not be used as a reason to make accusations that could fuel hostility among communities.
“Having different political views is not a licence to defame others. Do not inflame racial sentiments for political interests,” Afnan said in a statement.
The Alor Setar MP claimed Sathia had altered the meaning of Sanusi’s statement by inserting the words “go back”, which he said created the impression that the Perikatan Nasional election director wanted non-Malays to leave Malaysia based on their ethnicity.
Afnan called on Sathia to retract the allegation and issue a public apology over the matter.
Meanwhile, FMT reported that it had contacted Sathia for his response.
The controversy arose after Sanusi made remarks suggesting that different ethnic communities in Malaysia could trace their origins to ancestral homelands outside the country.
Following the statement, Sathia, who is also Selangor PKR election director, lodged a police report against the PAS leader.
