A Singaporean motorcyclist was arrested after allegedly performing a dangerous stunt on the East Coast Expressway Phase 2 (LPT2) near Kilometre 403 yesterday.
Hulu Terengganu district police chief Superintendent Shaharudin Abdul Wahab said the man, believed to be in his 20s, was detained at about 6pm by personnel from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department.
He said the rider was caught allegedly performing a “Superman” stunt while riding a Yamaha RXZ motorcycle on the highway.
Initial investigations found that the suspect was travelling to attend the RXZ Members 8.0 gathering at the Gong Badak Motor Circuit in Kuala Nerus, which began today.
“The suspect was detained for investigation under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous riding that could endanger other road users,” he said in a statement shared on the Hulu Terengganu district police headquarters’ official Facebook page.
Shaharudin reminded all road users, including participants of the RXZ Members 8.0 event, to obey traffic laws and practise safe riding habits.
He stressed that police would take firm action against individuals who endanger the safety of other road users.
