DAP Senator Reports Video Allegedly Linking Party To Communism

Date:

DAP senator Dr RA Lingeshwaran has lodged a police report over a video circulating on social media that he claims falsely labels DAP as a communist party.

Lingeshwaran said the video contained what he described as malicious allegations that could potentially affect racial harmony and create negative perceptions towards the party.

The video reportedly features a man wearing a Barisan Nasional (BN) vest making a statement rejecting DAP while claiming the party is associated with communism.

In response, Lingeshwaran stressed that DAP is not a communist party and has never been established based on communist ideology, adding that the party supports the Federal Constitution and Malaysia’s parliamentary democracy.

He claimed the video was intended to spread hatred, damage DAP’s reputation and fuel racial tensions among Malaysians.

Lingeshwaran urged police to investigate the matter under relevant laws, including the Sedition Act 1948, Sections 505(b) and 505(c) of the Penal Code, as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

He also called on the public to reject racial-based politics and remain cautious against misleading information shared on social media for political purposes.

The senator said Malaysians should prioritise unity and avoid being influenced by content that could threaten the country’s social harmony.
