The Sarawak Immigration Department detained 64 foreigners during a series of enforcement operations carried out in Kuching and Kota Samarahan between July 29 and 30.
The operations, conducted under Ops Selera, Ops Mahir, Ops Belanja, Ops Gegar and Ops Sapu, involved inspections at 13 locations across the two areas.
Among the locations inspected were Kota Sentosa, areas between Mile 10 and Mile 12, Pending Industrial Estate, Metrocity Matang, Sematan, Batu Kawa and Kota Samarahan.
The enforcement teams conducted checks at various premises, including eateries, factories, construction sites, locations suspected of illegal online gambling activities, massage centres, convenience stores and rental accommodation.
In a statement, the department said 107 individuals were inspected during the operations, resulting in the detention of 64 foreigners suspected of committing offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
The detainees were held under Section 15(1)(c) and Section 6(1)(c) of the Act for allegedly overstaying in the country and failing to possess valid travel documents or immigration passes.
The Sarawak Immigration Department said continuous enforcement operations would be carried out to ensure compliance with immigration laws and curb violations involving foreign nationals.
