PAS has stressed that its call for greater unity among Malays should not be interpreted as an appeal to reject or hate other races, insisting that the party remains committed to promoting unity and mutual respect in Malaysia’s multi-ethnic society.
Its Information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said the party’s stance is rooted in Islamic teachings, which do not encourage hostility or hatred towards people of different races or religions.
He said PAS has always respected all communities and faiths in the country, adding that its advocacy for Malay and Islamic interests does not come at the expense of other ethnic groups.
“PAS’ call for Malays to unite is not a message encouraging hatred towards other races. That is not what Islam teaches.
“PAS respects every race and religion in Malaysia. We have always carried a message of unity. Just because PAS speaks about Malays does not mean other communities are being sidelined, and speaking about Islam does not make PAS an extremist party,” he said in a statement on Friday.
Ahmad Fadhli also urged the Chinese and Indian communities not to judge PAS based on the views or narratives of others, but instead to evaluate the party through the statements and positions taken by its own leaders.
He reiterated that PAS is not an extremist party, does not harbour hatred towards the Chinese or Indian communities, and has consistently supported unity among Malaysians regardless of race or religion.
Commenting further, he said PAS and Perikatan Nasional (PN) had previously pursued the Penyatuan Ummah agenda together with UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN), describing the initiative as an effort to strengthen Malay political unity, which he claimed was essential for ensuring the country’s political stability.
He added that PAS hopes to see the same spirit of unity realised in Negeri Sembilan with the support of voters, while encouraging Malay-Muslim voters to back the party’s vision of unity for the nation’s future.
