Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu has urged Malay voters to make informed decisions at the ballot box by evaluating political parties and candidates based on facts, integrity and trustworthiness rather than fear or racial sentiments.
He said politics driven by race and fear would not strengthen the nation, but instead risk undermining the harmony that Malaysians of different backgrounds have built together over the years.
Mohamad, better known as Mat Sabu, said anti-DAP sentiment among sections of the Malay community was largely shaped by political narratives that had been repeatedly promoted for years until many accepted them as truth.
“Politics based on fear will not uplift the Malays. What will move the community forward is the courage to choose based on facts, integrity and trust, not propaganda that has been repeated so often that it is mistaken for the truth.
“I say this because I care about the Malay community. I cannot bear to see my own people so easily deceived, manipulated and influenced by stories that are not supported by facts.
“Malays must have the courage to think critically, verify information and choose what is right,” he said in a Facebook post on Friday.
He also argued that many of the concerns frequently associated with DAP, including claims that Malay rights and the position of Islam would be threatened, had not materialised as alleged.
According to him, the same narratives of fear continue to be repeated despite the absence of clear evidence to support such claims.
“I kept asking myself why anti-DAP sentiment remains so strong. Have mosques been closed? No. Has the azan been banned? No.
“Have the constitutional rights of Malays been abolished? No. Funding for Islamic affairs has not been reduced—in fact, it has increased.
“Do not allow fear over things that have never happened to blind us to misconduct that has already been proven,” he said.
