AKMU member Lee Suhyun has opened up about her ongoing struggle to maintain her weight, revealing that drinking alcohol once caused her to binge eat until she vomited.
The singer shared her experience in a video titled “AKMU Suhyun’s Day”, uploaded to Kian84’s “Life 84” YouTube channel on July 30.
During the episode, Kian84 joined Lee Suhyun for a workout session and spoke with her about her fitness journey.
Lee previously revealed that she began exercising with the encouragement of her brother, Lee Chanhyuk, while battling depression and panic disorder. She later lost 30kg through consistent dieting and exercise.
Reflecting on her weight-loss journey, Lee said she continues to work hard because she does not want her efforts to go to waste.
“I can’t let all of that go to waste, so I keep going even though it’s incredibly difficult,” she said.
When Kian84 asked whether she still follows a strict diet, Lee replied that she mostly sticks to her meal plan.
She also revealed that she no longer drinks alcohol because of a past experience.
“I tried drinking once out of curiosity,” she said. “As soon as I got drunk, I started eating until I threw up.”
Lee explained that she had spent so much time suppressing her appetite while dieting that once her self-control disappeared under the influence of alcohol, she could not stop eating.
“I realised that if I drank alcohol, my body would completely fall apart,” she said.
Fortunately, Lee added that she does not enjoy the taste of alcohol, which has made it easier for her to avoid drinking ever since.
