Passenger Allegedly Tries To Open Emergency Exit During Batik Air Flight To India

Date:

A Batik Air passenger has shared a terrifying mid-flight incident after another passenger allegedly attempted to interfere with an emergency exit during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kochi, India, on Wednesday.

According to an Instagram user, @ourwanderinglives, the incident happened during the overnight flight while most passengers were asleep.

The passenger claimed everyone was suddenly awakened by a loud noise that sounded like strong wind rushing into the cabin.

According to the account, a passenger seated near the emergency exit allegedly damaged part of the window area before attempting to tamper with the emergency exit door.

“We could hear the sound of wind rushing through the aircraft. Thankfully, due to the aircraft’s design and cabin pressure, the emergency exit remained securely closed,” the passenger wrote.

Fellow passengers and Batik Air cabin crew reportedly reacted quickly, restraining the individual before the situation could escalate further.

Despite the frightening ordeal, all passengers and crew were reported to be safe.

The Instagram user also expressed gratitude to the passengers and Batik Air crew who stepped in to help, describing their swift response as instrumental in preventing the incident from becoming more serious.
